Postcard #4 … celebrating self and place

Some evenings when I feel it’s time to add or subtract colour and style detail in

my home, I rearrange.

It’s not the big background furniture that moves. That’s too difficult. But

certainly small table and sideboard surfaces are frequently given an ornamental makeover treatment using pieces rediscovered in cupboards.

Home at Last has many decorating tips. I’ve worked with this particular

wisdom again and again.

  These three concepts of presentation and design can be your template for a

distinctive and satisfying decorating effect in each room and even garden spaces:

 1. Have a statement piece, the one that is bold and instantly noticeable;

 2. Have timeless classic pieces, the main volume of your space;

 3. And then add a modern piece that connects you to today.

  1. You could certainly see your enthusiasm in the paintings you write. The sector hopes for more passionate writers like you who are not afraid to say how they believe. All the time follow your heart.

    1. I admit it is often difficult. I make notes thinking about the general focus of what I want to say. I know I have deadlines, I know I want to get my thoughts out and so I have to start! After I’ve written my words I look at them again and again, and again the next day to see if the tone is what I want it to be. Collect opening phrases and lines and imagine you are speaking to a friend. What would you say? Taking the conversational approach is a good way to start. Don’t be too formal.
